谈网址导航站

相信有过几年上网经验的朋友对导航类网站一定不陌生–按类别把网站分类，然后给出链接，又叫网址站，网站目录(Directory )等。现在国内的导航站已经到了“鱼虾混杂”的地步了，很难找到“龙”了。相信连比较成熟的网民都知道这是没有或者只有非常少的技术含量的网站，专业人员更是对此类网站不屑一顾。可是，大家不要被国内导航网站的混乱所迷惑，从而认为导航网站一无是处。导航类网站对因特网的发展还是起过作用的，即便是现在，也有很多大型的，著名的网站目录（如DMOZ,最大最权威的开放目录）。并且就是在导航网站中，出现了世界和中国的两个传奇。
我相信本文的读者肯定知道雅虎(Yahoo)吧？并且很多人只要稍微回忆一下，就会想到雅虎实际便是做网络导航起家的。当时作为杨致远(Jerry Yang) 和大卫·费罗(David Filo) 的私人收藏夹，雅虎的网站归类整理工作在因特网初期获得了巨大的成功，奠定了雅虎的基础。直到现在，雅虎仍然保留着雅虎目录。需要提到的一点是，雅虎目录是收费的，并且对网站的质量要求比较高。
在中国的传奇，名字虽然不如雅虎响亮，但是在国内的知名度并不一定比雅虎低。这就是一度在Alexa世界网站访问量中排名前20的hao123.com。更想不到的是hao123在出售前，从头到脚都是一个个人网站-主人的名字直到目前在站长圈子外也不响亮，这就是低调的李兴平。以现在的眼光来看，如果说Google成就了Youtube的财富的话，那百度很早以前便成就了hao123的财富神话。2004年百度出资5000万购买了hao123, 似乎应该比Google和Youtube的联姻更让人回味。
在hao123成功的时候，2003-2006年间，是导航网站爆发的时期，这里除了比较成功的265上网导航外，最能让人记住名字的是7939上网导航，其使用病毒的方式进行推广为人深恶痛绝，然后其余大部分都“默默无闻”了。然后在web2.0的兴起的时候，“个人收藏夹”的概念又给了导航站一线生机，这期间也产生了del.icio.us 的成功。另外，很多专业的导航网站和网址目录也逐渐发展壮大。在下文中我们便从网站概念，市场需求，盈利模式和发展前景等角度对导航类网站进行比较系统地分析。
1．网站概念：网址导航实际上是一种搜索
在很多对网络搜索的分类中，网站目录(Directory)被作为其中之一，其明显特征是“人工整理”；与其对应的便是常被称为搜索机器人(Robot)的搜索引擎（Search Engine）,其特征是通过其蜘蛛（spider）爬行(crawling)网络来收集整理网页，其过程，从某种角度上来说，是“自动”的。考虑到目前搜索引擎的成功，在搜索引擎没有产生和没有普及的时候，网址导航能够成功，很大程度上是暗含了“搜索”的概念。它满足了人们发现和认识个网站的需要，是在当时比较“先进”的搜索信息的手段。
另外比较重要的一点是，导航网站，尤其是国内的导航网站给人们在网站之间的转化提供了很大方便。由于把各大网站比较集中的整理在一起，人们只需要点一下鼠标便可以在网络上方便的遨游了。一个佐证，便是被李兴平做到极致后来成为国内导航网站模板的hao123，其主页正中便是各大网站导航，然后还有一个万能的邮箱登陆服务，让hao123成了一个网络枢纽。
2.市场需求：早期网址导航主要是“导人”，现在很大部分是“导蜘蛛”
正如上面所介绍的，在搜索引擎之前，在信息查找方面，导航网站给了人们已很大的帮助。由于导航网站是人工收集整理的，所以可信度和实用性高，符合人们的习惯，所以在网络早期雅虎的目录成了人们认识网络的起点；在国内网络刚开始发展的时候，页面信息量更大的hao123也给年轻的没有经验的网民很大帮助，成了各网吧的首页。
搜索引擎的普及预示着导航网站的没落，Google和百度很快取代了hao123成为网络浏览器首页。导航网站正被越来越多的人所忘记—与之相对应的是，导航网站开始被另外一小部分人群所越来越多的关注，这就是站长群。败也萧何，成也萧何，这一个机遇的出现，戏剧般的还是因为搜索引擎。这个过程又可以分为两个阶段。
l 第一阶段，搜索引擎为导航网站带流量：由于导航网站的本身的特点，比如说集中于某一主题，连向主题相同的网站，并且拥有很多相同主题的网站的回链(back link,因为在收录网站的时候，导航网站往往要求和对方做链接交换)，所以在早期搜索引擎的算法中，能够得到很好的排名，往往出现在搜索结果的很靠前的位置。
l 第二阶段，搜索引擎的工程师们很显然也注意到这一点，让用户进行第二次搜索很显然不是搜索引擎想要得。于是随之而来算法的改变，让导航网站的页面权重大大的降低了，尤其是国内形式的导航站最明显(采用网站标题+链接的形式，在一个表格(table)中集中几百条链接)；而在国外目录形式的导航站影响相对较下，很多页面仍然能有很好的排名(采用网站标题+网站描述+链接的形式，网站描述,即非链接文字占了很大比重，一个页面收录往往不超过20个链接)。
无论是在第一阶段还是在第二阶段，导航网站都起了一个“导蜘蛛”的作用。也就是说，搜索引擎可以通过导航网站的页面顺“链接”摸瓜，找到网站并予以收录，并且由于导航网站每一页的主题都是人工编排非常集中，这也有利于搜索引擎确定被索引网站的内容。还有根据搜索引擎优化（SEO）的理论，一个网站的回链的多少是决定一个网站在搜索结果中权重的重要决定因素之一，而导航网站比自然而然成了一个建立回链的必须手段从而被站长们所喜爱。虽然现在大部分导航网站的权重已经很低，而权重高的往往收费，但是本着积少成多的信念，免费的导航网站还是站长们争相提交网站的地方。相对应的是，如果一个导航网站放松限制的话，最终结果只会让网站失去其“手工整理”的可信性和权威性而从内容上失去用户。
3．盈利模式：横幅广告+关键字销售+链接黄金位置销售+收费收录
横幅广告，Google AD是最普通最常见的形式，因为各大广告联盟的存在，让即使很小的个人站点也能轻松的打上各种广告。
关键字销售在国外比较常见，在国内一些专业目录也有类似业务，和搜索引擎的关键字销售原理类似，适用于比较大的网址目录站。一方面，在每个页面目录开始的顶端，都会有赞助链接(sponsored links, 小网站往往被Google Adsense所代替)；另一方面，这些大型的目录大都配有站内搜索引擎，在搜索结果中也会加入赞助链接，收费方式往往采取按点击收费的形式。
链接的黄金位置销售，主要是针对国内典型的表格构架的页面来说的，比如在表格首行首列，比如以不同的字体，大小和颜色突出某些链接等。这种模式的缺点没有特别指出这些是广告链接，很容易误导使用者，丧失其权威性，甚至导航的功能。
能够收费收录的，往往是权威的大型网站，比如雅虎目录。因为这类网站的权重很高，所以在搜索引擎优化中能起到很大的作用，一则容易被收录，因为搜索引擎的蜘蛛会经常光临权威的网址目录，另一方面，这种权威性也会被传递到链向的网站，从而使被收录的网站获得一定的权重。在这个模式中，还有另一个现象，就是链接销售商集合上千个甚至上万个网址目录，然后把这些链接打包卖给站长。也就是说如果站长购买这个链接包裹话，站长的网站就会被这数千个目录同时收录。不过由于此类包裹中的目录质量往往很差，甚至有所谓的连接农场(Link Farm), 所以营销比较难于进行。
4．发展前景：前景渺茫，急需创新和专业化
无论是在国内还是在国外，在搜索引擎的竞争下，导航网站的市场都是每况愈下。相对于搜索引擎庞大的数据库，按页搜索和精准度的不断提高，导航网站的按站搜索已经远远不能满足用于需要了。在SEO市场能起的作用也越来越小，日益维艰。
但是，在搜索引擎完全智能化之前，导航网站人工整理，精准和权威性强的优势还没有丢失，特别是在专业领域，一个好的集中于某一领域的专业导航网站往往能吸引特定的用户群，并且搜索引擎对此类网站的索引也从不吝啬。另一条可能的出路就是导航网站应该寻求和用户的互动，个性化的主页，移动收藏夹等服务都还有很好的前景。最后，导航网站应该拓展其服务内容，增加服务的附加值。
用一个刚刚建立的导航网站的例子来结束本文的分析，商企导航是一个专业的导航网站，主要服务于企业网站；但是网站并不仅仅局限于收录，因为这种定位本身便是给客户—此处我更愿意把企业网站称为客户—带来价值，比如信息发布，产生销售等，并且网站提出了一个新的概念“企业名片”，对于每一个注册的网站，都会自动生成一个企业网站主页，涵盖企业注册时的所有信息，以名片的形式展现出来。为了照顾一些SEOer们的需求，设计者还故意把可提交链接增加到了两条。和大多数导航网站一样，商企导航采用免费的形式，并且据介绍，还会有新的附加服务陆续上线。现在我们还看不清楚这个新站的最终目的和盈利模式，但是在导航网站上的扩展已经给很多导航站作了榜样，具体结果如何，有待继续关注。

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
